React Life Background
Conway's Game of Life cellular automaton background for React and Next.js — gliders, oscillators, and still-lifes evolve on a phosphor grid with glowing alive cells and fading deaths.
React Life Background preview
The original generative-art loop, rendered as a living phosphor screen. Conway's Game of Life runs on a double-buffered grid where every cell follows four tiny rules — and from that, gliders sail across the screen, blinkers pulse, and still-lifes anchor the composition. Alive cells glow with a soft shadowBlur, deaths fade out for a couple of frames to leave a phosphor trail, and periodic re-seeds keep the automaton from settling into a dead stillness. Zero dependencies, time-based stepping so the rhythm is identical on any device, and a seeded PRNG so the opening frames look the same on reload. Perfect for engineering dashboards, CS-themed landing pages, hacker portfolios, and anywhere a background should feel computational rather than decorative.
