Zoom Out 24

The zoom-out-24 icon represents a magnifying glass with a minus sign, used to decrease the zoom level or magnification of an image, document, or interface. This symbol is widely used in various software applications and digital tools to provide users with a way to adjust the visual scale. The origin of this icon is rooted in the early days of graphical user interfaces, where zooming was a crucial feature for users to navigate and interact with digital content.

In real-world applications, the zoom-out icon appears in image editing software like Adobe Photoshop, graphic design tools like Sketch, and even in web browsers like Google Chrome. It's often paired with its counterpart, the zoom-in icon, to provide users with a seamless way to adjust the visual scale. For instance, in Figma, a popular design tool, the zoom-out icon allows users to step back and overview their design project, making it easier to navigate and make adjustments.

From a UX perspective, the zoom-out icon communicates the ability to adjust the visual scale, which is essential for users to interact with digital content effectively. It helps users understand that they can zoom in or out to access more or less information, making it a crucial component of interface navigation. The icon's simplicity and consistency across different platforms ensure that users can easily recognize and utilize it to achieve their goals.

Sign in (it's free), then open Get icon, Install with shadcn CLI, and pick your package manager to copy the command. It adds ZoomOut24Icon to components/icons/octicon-zoom-out-24.tsx: one file, a size prop (24 by default) and every SVG prop, with no icon package.

Copy it as React (from Get icon, or the Code section): a typed ZoomOut24Icon component you paste into your project, with no package to install. Only the icons you import reach your bundle. It works in Next.js and any React app.

Open Get icon, then Copy as code, and pick Vue, Svelte, Angular, Solid or Preact; the Code section shows each one too. Every version is one self-contained component with the SVG inside, and SVG and data URL copies are there for plain HTML and CSS.

Set width and height on the component, or a class like size-6. It's drawn on a 24 × 24 grid, so it stays sharp at any size. Customize also sets the size it exports at, its padding and rotation.

Yes. It follows the text color, so with text-foreground (or any theme token) it changes with your light and dark themes. The icon is a vector, so it needs no separate dark asset.

Next to a visible label it's decoration: add aria-hidden="true" so screen readers skip it. Standing alone, as in an icon button, give the button a name instead, like aria-label="Zoom Out 24", so screen readers say what it does.

Yes. ZoomOut24Icon passes every SVG prop to the svg element, so <ZoomOut24Icon aria-hidden="true" /> works, and so do role="img" with aria-label, or a title child, when it carries meaning on its own.
