Questions and answers
Before you trust the result: what to know about the format, the limits, your data and the tools next to it.
Pick Sunset or Sepia for an instant warmth, or a light orange or golden brown for a subtle one. The warmer the color, the more golden the photo.
Ocean, Teal or Slate. Desaturated blues feel composed; saturated ones feel dramatic.
White balance removes a cast to make colors accurate. Toning adds a cast on purpose. This tool is creative, not corrective; correct first if the photo needs it.
Warm, usually: Sepia, Sunset and Rose flatter skin. Cool tones suit editorial and fashion portraits but can make skin look unwell.
Not with this tool, which only adds a tone. Use the color correction tool to neutralize the cast first, then tone the result.
Warm reads as inviting, energetic, nostalgic and friendly; cool as calm, professional, sad, mysterious or dramatic. Choose by the feeling you want.
Slate: nearly gray with a trace of color. Or any tone pulled almost all the way to gray. A polished look with no obvious cast.
Pick a preset such as Sepia, Ocean, Teal, Sunset, Rose or Slate, or open the picker and set any color; a hex code you know can be typed straight in. The photo's light and shade stay as they were, and only the hue moves toward the color you chose.
Note the hex code of the tone you settled on and apply it to each photo in turn. The same code gives the same cast, so a shoot, an album or a feed reads as one set even when the originals were lit differently.
