Questions and answers
Before you trust the result: what to know about the format, the limits, your data and the tools next to it.
To fit a layout, to meet a platform's size rule, to work out the DPI for print, or to check that a resize kept the proportions. The number is in the file's header, and this reads it without an editor.
Width to height, reduced: 1920 by 1080 is 16:9, 1080 by 1080 is 1:1. The decimal form (1.78) is beside it. A responsive layout, a video thumbnail and a social card each want a particular one.
Landscape when the width is larger, portrait when the height is, square when they match. It is the file's own shape, not any rotation tag; PNG has none.
Pixels are width times height, the resolution: 1920 by 1080 is about 2.1 megapixels. File size is the bytes on disk after compression, so a mostly transparent PNG can have millions of pixels and weigh a few kilobytes.
Yes. A fully transparent PNG still has a width and height in its header, and the tool reads those, so it works whether or not anything is visible.
Any image the browser can decode: PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, BMP, ICO and SVG, up to 100 MB. The tool is named for PNG because that is where people arrive from, but the input doesn't have to be one.
Each row has a copy button, and there is one for the whole table. The width and height copy as plain numbers, the ratio as 16:9.
No. The file is read in your browser and every step runs there, on your device. The page makes no request with your image, so you can load it, go offline and keep working.
No. The PNG dimensions finder is free and opens without a sign-in, an account or an install.
Nothing. The PNG dimensions finder holds your input in the page's memory, so closing or reloading the tab clears it, and it saves nothing in this browser.
Up to 100 MB per file, the limit the tool states under its drop area. A larger file is refused with a plain message instead of being decoded.
No, it takes one file at a time. If you drop or choose several, only the first is used; run the tool again for the next one.
No. It only reads the file and shows facts about it; your original is untouched, and nothing is written unless you download a result.
The rows (width, height, ratio, orientation, pixels, size, type) as text, to copy or download.
Closest to the PNG dimensions finder: PNG metadata viewer, PNG viewer, PNG compressor, PNG to JPG converter. Each opens on its own page, free and in the browser.

The tool is free. Its interface is built from shadcn.io's own components (Button, Input, Slider and the rest of the registry under /ui), which come in React, Vue, Svelte and Solid. Pro adds the blocks and templates for the product around it.
