Questions and answers
Before you trust the result: what to know about the format, the limits, your data and the tools next to it.
Four: the original on a checkerboard, a grayscale version, an inverted version, and an alpha mask in which opaque pixels are white, translucent ones gray and transparent ones black. The facts line gives the share of each.
Because a PNG's transparency is the thing other viewers hide. The alpha view shows where a cut-out still has soft or stray pixels, and the percentages tell you whether a logo is really transparent or sitting on a white square.
The exact palette lists the ten most frequent colors with their pixel counts: for a flat graphic that is the whole palette. The quantized palette runs a median cut to six colors, which is the image's dominant scheme even for a photo with thousands of shades.
Dimensions, file size, aspect ratio and the percentage of opaque, translucent and transparent pixels. For PNG chunks, text and DPI, use the metadata viewer.
Any image the browser can decode: PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, BMP, ICO and SVG, up to 100 MB. The tool is named for PNG because that is where people arrive from, but the input doesn't have to be one.
Click a view in the bar and the pane switches; the palette and the facts stay. Hover a swatch for its hex value and count.
No. The file is read in your browser and every step runs there, on your device. The page makes no request with your image, so you can load it, go offline and keep working.
No. The PNG viewer is free and opens without a sign-in, an account or an install.
Nothing. The PNG viewer holds your input in the page's memory, so closing or reloading the tab clears it, and it saves nothing in this browser.
Up to 100 MB per file, the limit the tool states under its drop area. A larger file is refused with a plain message instead of being decoded.
No, it takes one file at a time. If you drop or choose several, only the first is used; run the tool again for the next one.
No. It only reads the file and shows facts about it; your original is untouched, and nothing is written unless you download a result.
Each view as a PNG file, such as the gray, inverted or alpha-mask version.

The tool is free. Its interface is built from shadcn.io's own components (Button, Input, Slider and the rest of the registry under /ui), which come in React, Vue, Svelte and Solid. Pro adds the blocks and templates for the product around it.
