Before you trust the result: what to know about the format, the limits, your data and the tools next to it.
By ΔE OK, the straight-line distance in OKLab, the space CSS Color 4 uses for its own color comparisons. It tracks how different two colors look far better than a distance in RGB, where the same gap can be invisible in one place and obvious in another.
About 0.02 is a just-noticeable difference: under it, two colors side by side are hard to tell apart; up to about 0.04 they're very close; past 0.08 they're clearly different and an arbitrary value is the honest choice.
Tailwind CSS v4's default palette, the same one the /colors page lists: 26 families of 11 shades, 286 colors, including the newer mauve, olive, mist and taupe grays. v4 defines them in OKLCH, and some are wider than sRGB, so an old v3 hex may land on a v4 shade that isn't identical.
Choose the utility (bg, text, border, ring, fill, stroke and the rest) and every match is written with it, ready to copy: bg-sky-500, text-sky-500.
The tool writes it as an arbitrary value, bg-[#3b82f6], which Tailwind compiles as it is. Use it when no shade is close, or for a brand color that must match exactly.
Ten, nearest first, each with its swatch beside yours, its distance and its OKLCH value.

Nothing. The Tailwind color finder holds your input in the page's memory, so closing or reloading the tab clears it, and it saves nothing in this browser.

The tool is free. Its interface is built from shadcn.io's own components (Button, Input, Slider and the rest of the registry under /ui), which come in React, Vue, Svelte and Solid. Pro adds the blocks and templates for the product around it.
