Before you trust the result: what to know about the format, the limits, your data and the tools next to it.
A QR (quick response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that holds text: a URL, a few hundred characters, contact details. Phone cameras read it in a second, which is why it sits on menus, posters, tickets and packaging. The text is in the pattern itself; no service is needed to decode it.
Error correction adds redundancy so a code still reads when part of it is dirty, torn or covered by a logo. L recovers 7% damage, M 15%, Q 25% and H 30%; higher levels make a denser code. M suits screens and clean prints; use H for a code that will be printed small, placed outdoors or have a logo over its middle.
Up to 2,953 bytes, about 2,900 Latin characters or 4,296 digits-only characters at the lowest level; less at higher error correction. A short URL makes a sparse code that scans from farther away, so link to a short address when you can.
Prefixes the phone understands: a URL opens the browser, 'mailto:' an email, 'tel:' the dialer, 'sms:' messages, and 'WIFI:T:WPA;S:network;P:password;;' offers to join the network. The sample buttons fill in each shape.
No. The code is computed and drawn in your browser by an open-source library; the page makes no request with the text. Passwords in a Wi-Fi code never leave the tab.
PNG is a picture at the chosen size, fine for screens and most prints. SVG is vector: it scales to any size without blur, which is what a print shop or a design tool wants. Both are black on white, the most reliable pair for scanners.
Scan it with your phone before you print it; a camera app does. The status line gives the code's version and module count: a lower version is sparser and easier to scan.
Pick 128, 256, 512 or 1,024 pixels in the bar. For print, the SVG scales anyway; keep a quiet margin around the code and never go below about 2 cm on paper.
