Questions and answers
Before you trust the result: what to know about the format, the limits, your data and the tools next to it.
Separate parts with commas: 1-3, 5, 8-. A part is a page (5), a range (1-3), from a page to the end (8-) or from the start to a page (-3). Pages are numbered from 1, as a reader numbers them, and each part becomes its own file.
Yes. Write the pages under By ranges and set Output to One file: 2, 5-7 gives a single PDF of those four pages. The pages come in the order you write them, so 5, 1 puts page 5 first.
No. Pages are copied into the new files as they are, so text stays text and images keep their resolution. Each part is a whole PDF that opens on its own.
Yes. Ranges may overlap: 1-3, 3-5 puts page 3 in both files. In the page grid, a page shows the first part it belongs to, and a page in no part is dimmed and left out.
No. The PDF is read into your browser's memory and split there with pdf-lib, and the ZIP is packed on your device too. The page sends nothing, so the file stays private.
After the original and their pages: report-pages-1-3.pdf for a range, report-page-07.pdf in Every page mode, numbered so the files sort in order. Several parts come as report-split.zip, and each part can also be saved from the list.
No. A file with a password or restrictions is marked protected and can't be split here. Save an unprotected copy from a PDF reader that has the password, then drop that.
500 MB. The file is held in memory while you work, so a very large document needs a device with memory to spare; the number of pages has no limit of its own.
No. The "Split PDF" tool is free and opens without a sign-in, an account or an install.
Nothing. The "Split PDF" tool holds your input in the page's memory, so closing or reloading the tab clears it, and it saves nothing in this browser.
Files are read into your browser's memory and the "Split PDF" tool works on them there; nothing is sent to a server.
The "Split PDF" tool is free and needs no account.
Work in memory means the limit is what your device can hold: up to 500 MB per PDF and 2 GB for a ZIP.
